The PayPal service has strict policies that prohibit merchants and account holders from engaging in any transactions associated with gambling activities in certain U.S. states and jurisdictions where gambling is deemed illegal.
Furthermore, merchants who provide services accessible to U.S. account holders are also restricted from facilitating gambling transactions. However, PayPal does permit approved gambling merchants to utilize their services in jurisdictions where gambling is legal. To gain approval from PayPal, these merchants must showcase their capability to prevent U.S. account holders and individuals in jurisdictions where gambling is illegal from engaging in their gambling activities.
PayPal has a strict policy that prohibits account holders from utilizing their service to send or receive payments for any type of gambling activity. This includes, but is not limited to, wagers, gambling debts, and gambling winnings, regardless of whether the gambling activities are conducted online, in person, or through any other means.
The term “gambling” encompasses various activities, including but not limited to placing, accepting, recording, or registering bets, participating in lotteries, and engaging in games of chance or skill to win money, property, or other valuable items.
In addition to the previously mentioned restrictions, PayPal also prohibits certain gambling-related activities, regardless of their legal status or classification, unless they are conducted by an approved merchant. These activities encompass a wide range, including games of chance and skill such as baccarat, blackjack, craps, and roulette, as well as sportsbooks or sports betting, horse or greyhound racing, person-to-person betting, lottery tickets, gaming machines, and ventures related to gambling, such as gambling tips or offshore gambling licenses.
To obtain approval from PayPal, gambling merchants such as online casinos and sportsbooks must provide their contact information and a comprehensive summary of their business operations. These merchants must demonstrate their commitment to adhering to PayPal’s gambling policy and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
